Bikebiz project

Bikebiz

Background of the project

Bikebiz, a well-established brand in the online space, approached Synpass. Originating in 1987 as a modest seller of used bicycles, Bikebiz has now emerged as a prominent bike retailer in Australia. With a strong presence in the local market and partnership with popular Australian bike brands, they needed to upgrade their website. The existing website, built on an outdated but robust platform, required a modern and enhanced solution.

The previous version of the Bikebiz website no longer met the evolving demands of the digital landscape, encompassing both design and functionality.

With the rapid advancements in the e-commerce industry since its initial launch, the outdated website failed to cater to the practical needs of customers and the complex management requirements of Bikebiz.

Despite the risks associated with the newly announced Magento 2 platform, Synpass embraced the opportunity and suggested its implementation.

Through the challenging process of Magento 2 development, the team successfully integrated all essential components, resulting in a comprehensive and dependable system for Bikebiz.

This transformation has significantly improved their operations, increased return on investment, and positioned them for continued growth in the years ahead.

Introducing a tailored e-commerce solution that caters to your specific business requirements.

We understand the importance of swift and reliable development when it comes to your web-store. That’s why we strive to deliver efficient results within your desired timeframe.

Recently, our team of skilled IT professionals successfully delivered a complex e-commerce solution, exemplified by the website https://www.bikebiz.com.au.

We invite you to explore this platform and discover innovative features and ideas that could benefit your business.

The core features of the site include a distributed Google Cloud-based architecture with various components such as database replications, load balancer, cybernats, pods, dockers, and health and security monitoring.

To streamline the development process, we implemented a fully automated Continuous Integration architecture that automates builds, tests, deployments on staging servers, and releases.

The foundation of the software is the Magento 2 Community Edition, renowned for its robustness and flexibility. For Bikebiz, we implemented 32 premium third-party modules, created a unique theme from scratch, and incorporated the SLI Search service to enhance search functionality and performance. We are confident that these customizations can be tailored to meet the most sophisticated needs of your business.

Key functionalities of the website:

  • The store’s architecture utilized a distributed setup on Google Cloud, incorporating database replications, load balancer, cybernats, pods, dockers, and comprehensive health and security monitoring.
  • The implementation involved a fully automated Continuous Integration framework, streamlining the processes of building, testing, deploying, and releasing on staging servers.
  • The software utilized was a custom-built Magento 2 Community Edition, offering extensive customization capabilities to meet diverse customer requirements.

Regarding Bikebiz, the customizations encompassed the following features and enhancements:

  1. Integration of 32 premium third-party modules
  2. Development of a unique, tailor-made theme
  3. Implementation of SLI Search service for enhanced search experience and performance
  4. Integration and configuration of Google Tag Manager for advanced e-commerce analysis
  5. Utilization of Olark and Live chat services for data collection from various custom forms
  6. Implementation of reCaptcha and Cloudflare for improved content delivery and DDOS protection
  7. Integration with another Magento store for original parts and accessories (e.g., Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki)
  8. Integration of Orderhive accountant service
  9. Creation of a custom special deals module based on the frontend Ember.js framework.

Outcomes achieved through two years of agile development.

By implementing and integrating various third-party modules and services, Synpass achieved cost-efficiency, effectively cutting down development costs and timeframes. The timely launch and upgrade of the modern Magento 2 Bikebiz e-commerce store resulted in rapid growth. Within just three months of its launch, the business experienced significant income multiplication, generating profits that covered the expenses of two years of development in a mere three months. Bikebiz emerged as the top bikes retailer in Australia, outpacing its competitors by a wide margin.

Is Magento 2 truly flawless? Does it meet all requirements?

Regrettably, the answer is no. After a comprehensive evaluation of Magento and the implemented solutions, the Bikebiz team recognized opportunities for further business process improvement and increased profitability. They engaged top experts and devised two strategies that revealed the shortcomings in the existing architecture.

  1. Initially, they discovered that the speed of the website directly impacted conversion rates, as Magento’s heavy frontend hindered fast conversions. The solution involved developing a custom theme using Reactjs, a lightweight and modern JavaScript framework, and utilizing Magento solely as a backend through its RESTful API. By implementing Reactjs, page speed increased by a remarkable six-fold, resulting in a 30% boost in conversion rates and increased profitability while minimizing expenses.
  2. Next, the Bikebiz team focused on streamlining their order management processes. With their growing business, they encountered difficulties in processing all orders efficiently within business hours. They identified that Magento’s built-in order management system was overly complex and sluggish.
To address this issue, they developed a custom order management application using the Vue.js framework and Magento API. This application seamlessly integrated with Magento, allowing staff to handle orders through an intuitive and lightning-fast interface. As a result, the order processing time was reduced by 1.5 times, enabling them to handle increased orders and accommodate their growing income.

In summary, the Bikebiz project demonstrates the immense capabilities of Magento 2 CE. While not flawless, this system can be tailored to fulfill all evolving eCommerce requirements.
